Welcome toTai Chi for Health Marana

At Tai Chi for Health Marana, we focus on the health and wellness aspects of Tai Chi and Qigong. Our Tai Chi classes, especially the beginner classes, emphasize safety first and foremost. Our goal is to help people new to Tai Chi learn at their own pace in a non-judgemental environment. 

Most participants in our classes are looking to improve their balance and prevent falls, making our tai chi for balance and fall prevention programs particularly beneficial. Others are interested in stress management, improved flexibility, social interaction, or finding a form of low impact exercise that is easy on the joints and also FUN. 

No prior tai chi experience is required or assumed.   We have a number of participants who have practiced tai chi in the past but paused for various reasons, and they are now back on the tai chi path with us. However, most of our participants are new to this internal martial art. 

Our standard practice is to MODIFY any movement that presents challenges to an individual, ensuring no one is forced to operate outside their comfort zone.   Our beginner classes can be performed seated for part or all of the session. Some participants do the entire class standing but have a chair at arm's length 'just in case.' 

Our tai chi classes follow Dr. Paul Lam's modified sun style programs. Sun style tai chi is well suited for our purposes, as it features a more upright stance than other tai chi styles and includes the follow step, which assists in balance among many other benefits.
