We currently offer classes in the Foothills (St Philips) Oro Valley (Church of the Apostles) and Tucson (St Paul's UMC and Southern Arizona Dance Center)


CATALINA FOOTHILLS CLASSES - All classes held at St Philips 


NOTE: NO ST PHILIP's CLASSES ON TUESDAY MARCH 31st


LOCATION:  St Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church is located at the intersection of River Road and Campbell Avenue.  Tai Chi classes are held in the rehearsal space of the Bloom Music Center which is accessed via a walkway from the east side of the St Philip campus, near the solar panel covered parking.  Look for Tai Chi directional signs.



INTRODUCTION TO TAI CHI


INSTRUCTORS:   Ed Farrelly and Larry Evers


SCHEDULE:          TUESDAYs  9am to 9:30          


FEE:                     $10 drop-in $30 monthly (4 classes)


This 4 session class restarts each month, and addresses the basics.  It assumes zero previous knowledge or experience with tai chi, and is designed for all new participants, or those returning to tai chi after a long break. This class covers the basics of tai chi posture and alignment, stepping, breathing, balance, etc. The warm-up exercises and three basic 6 movements - commencement, open/close, and single whip (right) - of Dr Paul Lam's TCA/FP program will be taught .
 


TAI CHI FOR HEALTH AND FALL PREVENTION PART 1 and PART 2


INSTRUCTORS:       Ed Farrelly and Larry Evers


SCHEDULE:              TUESDAYs 9:30am to 10:20am


FEE:                           $12 drop-in, $40 monthly (4 classes)


This class covers Dr Lam’s TCA/FP program - Parts 1 and 2. It assumes knowledge and practice with the first 3 basic six movements (covered in the Intro class), and begins with Wave Hands Like Clouds. The six core tai chi principles will be explored, and the basics first introduced in the Intro class will be expanded and refined.  This class will cycle between part 1 and part 2 of TCA/FP, depending upon the abilities and needs of the participants.  We also go deeper into posture, breathing and walking.




INTERMEDIATE TAI CHI. $12 drop-in, $40 monthly


INSTRUCTORS:       Ed Farrelly and Larry Evers


SCHEDULE:              TUESDAYs 10:25 am to 11:15 am


FEE:                           $12 drop-in, $40 monthly (4 classes)


This class assumes knowledge and a level of familiarity with TCA/FP Parts 1 and 2.  The class will focus on the Sun 73 forms for a month, then switch to Yang 24 for a month, and then back to Sun style.  The class also includes various Qigong sets/exercises. Additional Tai Chi principles will be explored.       


NOTE: This class assumes prior tai chi experience with any tai chi style.  In general, participants will have been playing tai chi for more than 2 years within the last 5 years.  Please reach out to one of the instructors if you are considering this class so we might together decide if you are appropriately placed.

ORO VALLEY CLASSES  - all classes held at Church of the Apostles



LOCATION: Church of the Apostles in Oro Valley (NW corner of La Cholla Blvd and Tangerine Rd intersection.  Entrance at 12111 La Cholla). Look for Tai Chi for Health directional signs



INTRODUCTION TO TAI CHI

SCHEDULE:      WEDNESDAYs  1pm to 1:50 pm 


FEE:                   $10 drop-in, $25 monthly (4 classes)


A fundamentals class that is suitable for those who are brand new to tai chi, as well as novice players looking for a refresher in the basics. No prior experience or knowledge of tai chi or qigong is assumed.


This class will cover the basics of posture, stepping, breathing, balance, etc. The warm-up exercises and beginning basic 6 movements (commencement, open/close, and single whip (right) will be taught.


TAI CHI FOR HEALTH AND FALL PREVENTION - PART 1

SCHEDULE:      THURSDAYs 9:00am to 9:50am 


FEE:                  $10 drop-in,  $25 monthly (4 classes)


A fundamentals class that starts with the basics of Dr Paul Lam's TCA/FP program, and can serve as a Re-Boot for participants who have attended in the past but would like to start fresh from the beginning. The TCH/FP Basic 6 and Extended 6 forms will be taught. An introduction to essential tai chi principles and some qigong movements will also be covered.



TAI CHI FOR HEALTH AND FALL PREVENTION - PART 2


INSTRUCTOR:  Ed Farrelly


SCHEDULE:      THURSDAYs 10:00am to 10:50am 


FEE:                  $10 drop-in,  $25 monthly (4 classes)


This class assumes a level of competency and comfort with TCH/FP Part 1, including Basic 6 and Extended 6 movements. Elements of Part 1 will be revisited and taken deeper, but our primary focus will be on learning TCA Part 2 forms.  We will also be taking a deeper dive into tai chi principles, breath work, posture and movement. 


NOTES FOR ORO VALLEY CLASSES


Drop in fee for 2 classes (TCH/FP part 1 and part 2)  $15


Monthly fee for two classes (can attend Wednesday class for free)  $35





TUCSON CLASSES
